Most generators need speeds of 3000-7000 RPM to deliver their maximum power. However, the best rotors only operate at speeds between 100-900 RPM under "normal" wind conditions (4-12 m/s). Therefore, an appropriate gear ratio should be used for optimal energy yield from the rotor.
This speed conversion unit is suitable for rotor sizes up to a maximum of 200 cm, operating range 3-12 m/s includes:
1 X steel shaft, diameter 20 mm, length 300 mm, thread 30 mm M12
2 X pedestal bearings
1 X pulley (without profiling, size selectable)
1 X pulley 20 mm (with profiling)
1 X Poly-V belt / ribbed belt PJ4
1 X permanent magnet generator 12-24V/10.5A 2900 RPM
1 X diode to separate battery and generator
Compatible hub selectable. Please note that such a conversion unit is essential for most generators, as otherwise, very little power will be delivered due to the low speed.

Using a gear ratio results in an increased starting torque! This can affect the starting behavior of wind and hydropower systems
Rotor recommendation:
Locations with good wind conditions (coastal areas or flat land) are well advised to use the 3-blade aluminum rotor 160 cm or the 3-blade laminated wood rotor 160 cm. Other locations should consider using a 3-blade aluminum rotor 200 cm.
